Foley Vision Center launched summer with a bang, offering stylish new sunglasses and skincare perfect for those brighter, warmer days!
We started off the virtual event discussing the importance of sun protection. Here are Dr. Foley’s tips on how to best protect your eyes this summer:
- Sunglasses are like SPF for your eyes, both for the front and back! Sun damage increases your risk of melanoma on both the retina and eyelids and can increase cataract development.
- 80% of sun damage to the eyes occurs before 18 years old, so even babies and kids need those sunnies!
- Always wear sunglasses when you’re outside, even if it is not sunny. Those harmful UV rays penetrate through the clouds and can still cause damage.
This evening, we were joined by our skincare specialist Tina to highlight the three best FVC skincare products to protect the skin from sun damage.
Gillian also gave some of her best sunscreen tips to protect the skin against aging and sun damage. Always re-apply sunscreen every two hours and wear it even during the winter months. The sun causes 80% of skin aging! Remember that we host virtual events on the last Wednesday of every month, so watch our website and social media for the next sign-up link!
